<\/figure>\n\n\n\nAfter Shelley Weeks\u2019 husband Wayne died of cancer she decided to invest the lump sum from his pension into improving the family home in Coxheath. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
She paid the\nbuilding firm Trigon Property Care owned by Christopher Hook \u00a360K to construct\nan extension on the back of her home. The builder started the work and then\nstopped leaving part of the groundwork incomplete and has since not done any\nmore work but has kept the money. Eventually Shelley took him to court and\nalthough she has won a claim of a charge on his home she hasn\u2019t received a\npenny and is unlikely to do so despite spending thousands on legal fees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If she had used CheckaCo and spent \u00a33.85 she would have seen Christopher Hook\u2019s poor financial track record and avoided using his services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Shelley\u2019s\nhusband Wayne died of leukaemia aged 33 making this an even more tragic case.\nBut it could have been avoided.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Lydia Catling\nof Kent Online explained about the charge on Hook\u2019s home. She wrote: \u201cThe order\nmeans if he were to sell his home, she would have a claim to receive \u00a370,000,\nwhich includes legal costs. However, she thinks this will be unlikely as others\nare believed to have orders on his home and therefore also entitled to a share\nof any sale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cShe said: \u2018Even though I knew it was likely my money would be lost I just couldn\u2019t let it go. When you lose someone that tragically it puts a lot of things in perspective and money isn\u2019t top of your list any more but I had to feel like I had done everything possible to get justice and get back what was mine.\u2019 \u201cSince publishing her story on Facebook, Mrs Weeks\u2019 post has been shared more than 4,000 times and several people have contacted her claiming to have had problems with the builder.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
