If only they had checked out FX Premier\u2019s background<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hundreds of investors lost a total of \u00a311m when the Premier\nFX currency firm collapsed in the summer of 2018 soon after its sole director\nand owner Peter Rexstrew died.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The case continues to be investigated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA)\nmore than 18 months later as they try to discover what\u2019s happened to all the\nmoney.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Portuguese English language website Expatica reported:\u201dThe company, owned and run by Peter Rexstrew, persuaded expats in Portugal and Algarve property owners living outside the country, to deposit cash with Premier FX on the promise of benefiting from exchange rate fluctuations and interest payments. Significant sums, often for house purchases, were left on deposit and a select few also were paid interest on deposits.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since its demise former customers of Premier FX\nhave come forward with their stories. The Mail Online reported on the case of John\nHopkinson 70, who lost his life savings of \u00a3180K and was forced to look for a\njob rather than retire to Yorkshire. Writing for the same website Jack Elsom\nillustrated the case of Pauline Creasey of Dover who lost \u00a3489,000 when the\ncompany collapsed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Expatica said: \u201cAndrew Bailey, the FCA\u2019s chief\nexecutive, told MPs at a Treasury Select Committee on Tuesday, that \u2018the first\npriority is to find the money,\u2019 explaining that \u2018The person involved in this is\nsaid to be dead. I think it\u2019s incumbent upon his relatives and business\npartners to tell us where the money is.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is no comfort to those who have lost their money and if only they had checked out the company on CheckaCo along with the business history of Peter Rexstrew they would have smelled a rat.
